Abstract

According to Patent (75) of Deutsche Forschungs- und Versuchsanstalt fur Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DE) a process for the hot isostatic pressing of porous bodies of complicate shape and made of a ceramic material, comprises the following phases: the shaped porous body is embedded in a press powder; the press powder present in the body is compacted by a cold-isostatic process; the pre-compacted product of the preceding process is smelted in glass capsules. The shaped body consists of silicium nitride, the press powder of boron nitride. The material described is suitable for use in the construction of turbine blades.
