Abstract

This paper explores the possibility of combining the Brayton and Ericsson cycles to produce a high efficiency gas turbine cycle for use onboard large Navy vessels. The advantages would be quick startup, decreased manning and less space requirements. Efficiencies were found to equal and surpass those of a typical Rankine cycle. Analysis is done using CyclePad, an intelligent computer aided design program.
