Abstract

A gas-filled X-ray tube resembling that of Solomon and Baun (1969) has been constructed and used successfully as a linear X-ray source in a grating spectrometer RSM-500 in an ultrasoft X-ray region (Lukirskii 1961). The tube does not suffer from the carbon contamination and consequent reduction of intensity that are characteristic of hot cathode tubes.
