Abstract

This work presents a simple route to fabricate p-type nickel oxide films. Different morphologies of NiO particles were prepared by using a precipitation method and a hydrothermal method. The preformed particles by both methods transformed to pure NiO phase after calcination at 300 °C. NiO particles with different morphologies such as flake-like, rod-like, and cube-like shape were deposited into films by electrophoretic deposition. Three different morphologies of NiO were found to exhibit p-type gas sensing properties against ethanol gas, leading to higher responses to ethanol with rod-like shape at 300 °C.
