Abstract

The India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) collaboration is going to use glass resistive plate chambers (RPCs) as the active elements for the Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) detector. For an efficient performance of RPCs, they have to be operated with an optimized gas mixture. We have studied the performance of RPCs for various gas mixture proportions and the results are reported here.
