Abstract

Photoelectron detachment yield (PDY) spectroscopy is an effective tool for elucidating gas phase protein structures compared with other spectroscopies in aqueous solutions. In general, investigations of low-charged ions are necessary to elucidate the intrinsic properties of protein because excess charge perturbs the electronic state of the protein. In this study, we measured PDY spectrum of the most low-charged cytochrome c (cyt c) anion, [cyt c]- by IR-laser ablation of a droplet beam. This result shows a spectral blueshift from the absorption peak of aqueous cyt c and the PDY peak of the [cyt c]6- ion reported in the previous study.
