Abstract

The catalytic cracking of gas oil has been investigated over ultra-stable (US) Y and aluminium deficient (AD) USY zeolites, the zeolites steam treated at 760°C then mixed with silica matrix and finally the zeolites mixed with silica matrix and then steam treated at 760°C. The non-framework alumina oxides in USY give higher gasoline and diesel oil selectivities compared with the ADUSY zeolite. A silica-alumina phase formed when USY mixed with silica matrix is steam equilibrated, promotes catalyst activity and improves gasoline and especially diesel oil selectivities.
