Abstract

Gas-liquid mass-transfer coefficients (k L a) and solubilities of hydrogen in a batch stirred autoclave reactor have been measured by a method based on the gas solute physical absorption kinetics; organic systems, namely, 2-propanol/H 2 , o-cresol/H 2 , and the mixture (1/3 o-cresol+2/3 2-propanol)/H 2 between 30 and 120°C were investigated. The influence of the main operating parameters was studied: agitation speed, temperature, total pressure, gas to liquid volume ratio, concentration, and diameter of solid particles. Experimental values were correlated by an empirical relationship of the type Sh=f(Re,Sc,We,(V g /V l ))
