Abstract

The major function of a countercurrent multistage washing electrofilter is either dust collection or absorption of gaseous solutes, depending on the relative toxicity of each pollutant or on the commercial benefit of the recovery of one of them. In a washing electrofilter, absorption is obtained by mechanical or electric spraying of a wash liquid, in which the nature and amount of chemical reagents are adapted to each stage of mass transfer.
