Abstract

A technique for preparing sorbents has been developed based on polyethylene glycols of different molecular weights and the solid support Chromaton NAW DMCS, which can be used for the gas chromatographic analysis of C 3–C 20 free fatty acids. The technique includes temperature-programmed stabilization of the sorbent to a temperature of about 270°. The reproducibilities of the retention characteristics and peak areas were determined statistically. The weight loss of the stationary phase was evaluated using the weighing method and thermogravimetric analysis. The infrared spectra of the initial and stabilized polyethylene glycols are presented. The influence of the nature of the solid support on the retention and peak shape of free fatty acids has been studied.
