Abstract

Quantitative separation of tricarboxylic acid cycle components by gas chromatography has been investigated. O-Methyloximation of α-keto acids with methoxyamine hydrochloride followed by esterification made the acids stable enough for subsequent quantitative analysis, while methyl esters of the acids were labile and displayed plural gas chromatographic peaks. Results on reproducibility, recovery and quantitativeness of the proposed method were satisfactory. Applicability of this procedure to serum from disease states is suggested.
