Abstract

A direct gas chromatographic method making use of electron capture detection has been developed for measurement of low concentrations of nitrous oxide in air (detection limit 0.02 ppm). A Porapak QS stationary phase is used for the separation. This permits measurement of nitrous oxide separated from the principal air constituents likely to cause interference. The method may also be used for measurement of carbon dioxide in atmospheric air and can be applied in an automatic mode.
