Abstract
Abstract A gas chromatographic procedure is described for the identification of a variety of propellants and aerating agents in aerosol whipped toppings and antistick pan coatings. The aerosol product is dispensed into a flask containing ethanol and the headspace is analyzed by gas chromatography. Carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, chloropentafluoroethane, octafluorocyclobutane, propane, dichlorodifluoromethane, isobutane, and fluorotrichloromethane are identified by their retention times relative to ethanol.
