Abstract

In this study, a gas-chromatographic method for the determination of small concentrations of HCl in air was developed. The determination was carried out by reaction with epibromohydrin followed by a gas-chromatographic separation and detection with an EC-detector. The smallest amount of 1-chloro-3-bromopropan-2-ol which was detectable was 36 pg whereas the smallest amount of HCl which reacted was 36 ng. Improvements of this method are possible.
