Abstract

In an age when Church buildings are increasingly being less preferred by many Christians for ceremonies in favour of outdoor open spaces, there is need to resituate the Church’s position on the importance of Church buildings. In the case of the wedding ceremony, there is need to re-think the biblical reasons that Christians are using to prefer the so called garden weddings over Church weddings. In as much as this paper does not seek to ‘criminalize’ the practice of garden weddings based on biblical or theological reasons, this paper argues that the proliferation of the industry of the present day garden weddings is more driven by secular and commercial reasons, including nature worship rather than those biblical or theological.
