Abstract
Fresh basidiocarps of Ganoderma australe (Fr.) Pat. were collected from hardwoods at different sites in Taiwan, and pure cultures were isolated. Monokaryotic cultures of this species were obtained from basidiospores of artificially cultivated fruit-bodies of isolates TAI-02, TAI-03, and TAI-04. Using mating tests with four representing mating types of monokaryotic isolates of Ganoderma australe TAI-01 from Taiwan, the mating system of this species proved to be tetrapolar multiallelic.
