Abstract
Spectra of the γ-rays emitted when neutrons in the energy range 15 to 300 keV are captured in Ta, W, Au, Hg and Pb have been measured. The results have been compared with experimental thermal neutron capture γ-ray spectra and also with theoretically calculated spectra. Effects due to the capture of p-wave neutrons have been observed. Average partial widths for some high γ-ray transitions have been deduced from the experiment.
