Abstract

A method is given for the calculation of the doses for all points in rightcircular cylinders containing uniformly distributed γ-ray sources either with orwithout absorption. This approximate method utilizes parameters calculated bynumerical techniques. Parameters applicable to a wide range of absorptioncoefficients and cylinder dimensions are presented. This method, which involvesonly simple arithmetic, should yield doses correct to within a few percent for cylinderswhose dimensions are less than a photon mean free path.
