Abstract

A new positive temperature coefficient resistor (PTCR) thermistor based on styrene butadiene rubber/nanomagnetite (SBR/Fe3O4) nanocomposite was successfully fabricated by conventional roll milling technique.XRD, FT-IR,TEM and EDX techniques were utilized to elucidate the developed of magnetite nanoparticles the analyses revealed a diameter of 9–11 nm.The (SBR/Fe3O4) nanocomposite was examined via the XRD patterns and SEM micro images before and after gamma irradiation. The mechanical properties of the developed nanocomposites: tensile strength, elongation at break and elastic modulus were investigated, whilst the thermal stability was analyzed by TGA. Explicit improvement was been noticed by elevation of the nano load and radiation dose within the cited range. The electrical conductivity examination and the derived thermistor constant, sensitivity and stability of irradiated nanocomposite, 10% Fe3O4 at 100 kGy ensured typical PTCR.
