Abstract

NMDA receptor (NMDAR) hypofunction is a putative pathophysiological mechanism theorized to contribute to deficient stimulus-evoked gamma oscillations and excessive baseline gamma power (reflecting excitation/inhibition (E/I) imbalance) in schizophrenia. We examined the effect of the NMDAR antagonist, ketamine, on the 40Hz auditory steady state response (ASSR) and pre-stimulus baseline gamma power. Further, we examined 40Hz ASSR and baseline gamma power in psychosis risk syndrome (PRS) youth.
