Abstract

The gamma-gamma angular correlation of the three cascades 215–960 keV, 298–964 keV and 298–877 keV of Dy 160 following the beta decay of Tb 160 has been studied using the coincidence method. Particular care has been taken to estimate the contribution of interfering cascades to the first one. The expansion coefficients obtained are consistent with a spin sequence 2(D, Q)3(D, Q)2 within the experimental error. The mixing-ratio analysis yields 960 keV radiation to be almost pure E2 with a very slight (≦0.9%) admixture of M1. Measurements on the other two cascades yield spin sequences and the multipolarities of the 298 keV and 877 keV radiations in excellent agreement with the measurements of previous workers.
