Abstract

A method of detecting high-energy gamma ray-emitting contamination in samples of Ac/sup 227/ is discussed. Experiments using samples of Ac/sup 227/, Ra/sup 226/, and Th/sup 228/ in combinations to simulate contaminated samples of Ac/sup 227/ indicate that as low as 0.02% curie contamination of Ac/sup 227/ by either Ra/sup 226/ or Th/sup 228/ can be detected in samples of Ac by coincidence- counting technique.
