Abstract

With its gabled roof design and brick cladding, the new 63,000-seat Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis offers a modern architectural and structural interpretation of the so-called field house style of athletic facility that became popular throughout the Hoosier State. Among its many innovations, the new multiuse venue features the first retractable roof that opens lengthwise across a stadium.
