Abstract
There could be significant benefits from the liberalisation of gambling in the UK. It would lead to a more efficient allocation of economic resource and could legalise activities that are currently extra-legal. The case against liberalisation is not well founded on evidence and there are, indeed, some ‘social benefits’ from gambling.
