Abstract

Hypertension is a disease characterized by increased arterial blood pressure. Hypertension will end in microvascular disease with the end result being tissue ischemia which will increase uric acid synthesis. The purpose of this study was to describe uric acid levels in hypertensive patients based on age and gender. This type of research is descriptive. This research was conducted at the Assadiah Clinic (dr. Elis) Kadungora Garut in 2023. The sample population was 34 patients with hypertension. This examination uses the Point Of Care Testing (POCT) method. How to take samples using the Accidental Sempling method. How to collect data by conducting interviews. The results of the study of 34 patients found that high uric acid levels were found in 18 people with hypertension (52.9%), and normal uric acid levels in people with hypertension were obtained in 16 people (47.1%). Based on age, >50 years, 13 people (59.1%) had high uric acid levels, and with normal uric acid levels, 9 people (40.9%) and Patients aged <50 years, 5 people (41.7%) ) with high uric acid levels and 7 people (58.3%) with normal uric acid levels. Based on gender, there were 8 men (53.3%) with high uric acid levels and 7 people (46.7%) with normal uric acid. In women, there were 10 people (52.7%) with high uric acid levels and 9 people (47.3%) with normal uric acid levels.
