Abstract

Transverse magnetoresistance measurements at 4.2 °K were carried out on Cu 3Au single crystals which had undergone extremely long and careful heat treatment in order to achieve a high degree of ordering. The constants b and d defined by Seitz for the description of the anisotropic behaviour of magnetoresistance were determined. Comparison of these constants with those known for copper shows that ordered Cu 3Au behaves likes a compensated metal.
