Abstract

Welcome to the first edition of the BJN Learning Disability Supplement, a supplement which has been sadly and regrettably missing from the pages of the BJNfor a number of years. First, I would like to introduce you to the supplement’s editorial board. Heather Camus is a registered learning disability staff nurse working in Devon. Sandra Lovell is a learning disability senior healthcare assistant with about 25 years experience of working with people with learning disabilities. Liz Garnham is a mother of two teenagers with Asperger’s syndrome. Michelle Persaud is director of learning disability nursing services in Nottingham and also current Chair of the Royal College of Nursing’s (RCN) Learning Disability Forum. Lastly, Chris Barber (me), is a learning disability registered nurse of many years standing, a parent of a teenage son who has Asperger’s syndrome. I also considers myself to be an emerging Asperger’s.
