Abstract
Abstract In this work we describe 59 galaxies discovered in the talk-forum of the Milky Way Project (MWP) by volunteers of the project. The MWP is based on infrared images by the Spitzer Space Telescope and primarily probes the Zone of Avoidance for star-forming regions located in the Milky Way. The list of galaxies found here include 35 galaxies previously not described, a possible galaxy cluster and two galaxies that could be located in the Great Attractor Wall. The volunteers mainly discovered larger (d > 12″) galaxies with a higher star-forming rate and likely missed galaxies with low star-forming rate or small galaxies. This work demonstrates that many galaxies in the Zone of Avoidance remain undiscovered in the GLIMPSE data set.
