Gaining Momentum

Abstract

We're taking off: We look back at the developments of 2020 and look forward to what 2021 has in store for Batteries & Supercaps. The past year has been challenging, to say the least. However, despite big swathes of research almost coming to a standstill, we at Batteries & Supercaps are grateful that you entrusted your research to us. The outstanding quality of the submissions we receive from you is reflected, among other things, in their citation frequency. This has led to the inclusion of Batteries & Supercaps in Clarivate's Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), part of the Core Collection on Web of Science. This means that Batteries & Supercaps will qualify for its first Journal Impact Factor in 2021, more than a year before expected! The pandemic that has swept the world meant that we could not connect with you in person at conferences as we would usually do, so we, along with our colleagues from our Chemistry Europe sister journals, have organised a series of themed online symposia, free to attend for anyone, anywhere. Batteries & Supercaps have held two successful symposia. The first was on machine learning as applied to battery materials (chaired by our Board Member Alejandro A. Franco, Figure 1) and the second one was on advanced computational methods in battery research (chaired by Piotr Jankowski, Figure 2). We have two more live symposia lined up for you, one on 18 January on Lithium Metal Anode (chaired by Stefan Kaskel), which is linked to our special collection dedicated to the same topic, and another one on 02 March (joint with our sister journal ChemElectroChem), where we will go Beyond Lithium-Ion Batteries and is also linked to an ongoing special collection.
