Abstract

A circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna surrounded by polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) is designed, which has the characteristics of high gain, low profile, and low radar cross section (RCS). RCS reduction is achieved by wrapping metasurface units around the antenna in a chessboard-type. A single metasurface unit has 90° linear polarization conversion characteristics. The simulation results show that designed antenna RCS is significantly reduced in the band from 7.65 to 22.33 GHz, covering the operating frequency band of the antenna.
