Abstract

μRWELLs are one of the latest Micro-Pattern Gas Detectors (MPGD) developed in the high-energy community and are widely used within the RD51 collaboration at CERN. Previously, they had only been tested as neutron detectors with the use of thin layers of boron as the neutron converter. Described here are the first ever measurements done with a μRWELL as a neutron detector using 3He gas as the conversion medium. In particular, gain measurements from a μRWELL operating in 3He gas combined with up to 6 bar of CF4 are presented. Among MPGDs, these operating pressures have previously only been achieved by Micro-Strip Gas Chambers (MSGCs).
