Abstract
The requirements for the depolarizer of the pump light used in a forward-pumped Raman amplifier were clarified. Management of the optical phases is strongly required to enable stable gain. Utilizing a dual-arm depolarizer, we successfully improved the 16-QAM transmission specifications.
