Abstract

In this paper, a few time-frequency mappings (TFM) applied to high quality audio coding are introduced at first, and then the related calculation formulae for performance evaluation of TFMs is briefly reviewed. Meantime, several theoretical coding gains for long and short transforms are tabulated. Finally, by analyzing coding gain for five kinds of TFMs with four typical audio clips, a novel TFM structure, which can satisfy time-frequency resolution requirement of audio coding and reduce more redundancy is suggested.
