Abstract

The underlying physical processes inherent in self-organized antiphase dynamics in multi-longitudinal-mode lasers are explored in terms of gain circulation, a new physical quantity. Transverse effects on antiphase dynamics in multi-longitudinal-mode lasers are investigated, and three-dimensional self-organization is shown to result from the cross-saturation dynamics in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
