Abstract

Type-2 Fuzzy Logic Controllers (T2FLC) have recently been used in active suspension system, because it handles uncertainties to a greater extent. Here, the performance of T2FLC based Vehicle Active Suspension System (VASS) in terms of sprung mass displacement, body acceleration, suspension deflection and tyre deflection are compared with that of Type-1 Fuzzy Logic Controller (T1FLC) based VASS using MATLAB and SIMULINK software. Root Mean Square (RMS) value of body acceleration is considered as the performance index. Also it is proposed to apply the Genetic Algorithm to T2FLC (GA-T2FLC) based VASS. Simulation results show that GA-T2FLC based VASS outperforms T2FLC, T1FLC and passive suspension system.
