Abstract

Sustainable and environmental friendly renewable energy resources are solar PV, wind, fuel cells, biogas, and biomass and these are the most rising energy sources towards building a nation with economy. But, renewable resources experience as a few restrictions while used in a stand-alone application. To overcome these problems, hybrid energy systems are developed with different number of sources. Also, designing of a such system is very difficult in coordination with different energy sources, storage methods, and load etc. The optimization process of such hybrid energy system control, sizing, and its selection of components is to give a profitable energy solution within the society. Three villages are considered in this study for electrification in Kollegal block of Chamarajanagar district. Main aim of this paper is to reduce overall system total net present cost and least cost of energy using Genetic Algorithm (GA). For utilization of all renewable energy resources into different combinations, four models are selected in this study. From results, combination C1 (solar PV-wind-biomass-biogas-fuel cell-battery based HRES) offers minimum NPC of $8,90,013 at 0% unmet load.
