Abstract

Supporting the development of domestic cruise companies is a key foundation for lifting the position of China’s cruise industry, participating in the global cruise competition and cooperation, and increasing the economic contribution of the cruise industry. It’s advocated in the Opinions on Promoting the Development of China’s Cruise Economy that major efforts should be made to develop local cruise companies, implement global competitive strategies, develop featured local cruise tourism products and optimize the existing itineraries, to better fuel the development of Chinese cruise tourism and enhance the international competitiveness of our cruise industry. Globalization is the most important development trend of Chinese enterprises. The globalized competition strategy is an important measure for sharpening competitive edges and maximizing overall profits. Cruise tourism is highly international and globalized in nature. To effectively develop, Chinese cruise companies should “go global” on the back of the domestic cruise market, keep expanding cruise fleets and market presence, implement globalized strategies, accelerate the globalized layout and actively participate in the competition for and cooperation on the global cruise market, thus to become a major driving force for the development of global cruise market. This paper probes deep into the trends of development of Chinese cruise companies and analyzes their advantages and problems. By comparing the development paths and modes of overseas cruise companies, this paper analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the internationalized development of Chinese cruise companies and their paths toward higher competitiveness. In the end, this paper gives advice on how they could do so to help them gain more international competitiveness and influence.
