Abstract

The variable geometry truss (VGT) is a truss structural system having a number of length-adjustable members. In this study. we deal with the mechanical characteristic of the shape-memory alloy wire. An experimental operation of two dimensional VGT is conducted. Posture of VGT is controlled. and the vibration by operation is observed. The mechanical characteristic is evaluated in terms of the experimental result. We observe error by the movement experiment. We consider the influence of the mechanical characteristics of the SMA wire on the behavior of the VGT. Some characteristic dynamic motion is also observed from the experiment.
