Abstract

Shiitake mushroom is one of the most important crops as well as rice and persimmon in Sado Island. But recently the production is getting on the decrease year by year due to the aging population and labor shortage. The objective of this study is to clarify current situation and issue of dry mushroom production in Sado Island by field survey. The results indicated that the uncared management of dry mushroom production has been practicing for lack of the appropriate technological information and the motivation of farmers was extremely decreasing. In this research, instruction manual of dry mushroom production particular focused on Sado Island was developed to aim to improve basic skills of farmers and the quality as well as to increase the yield.
