Abstract
Geometrically nonlinear finite element analyses of inflated beams are conducted to study the distributions of stress fields after wrinkling with various section parameters. The results show that the minor principal stress fields at the bottom of the beams after wrinkling are almost constant, which gives an allowable constant compressive stress parameter in the modified tension field theory.A parametric study of cross sections of inflated beams is conducted to identify the characteristics of the constant parameter.
