Abstract

This paper deals with the simulation for corrosive wear based on the mechanical and electrochemical wear models. The contact surface is divided into finite grids so that the film thickness, anodic current and hardness, etc can be calculated. Contact problem was approximated by a modified Railing's model. Mechanical wear and electrochemical wear were calculated by Archard's wear Model and Faraday's Law, respectively. Results show that specific wear rate decreased with an increase in normal load since electrochemical wear in not proportional to load. Also wear decreased with an increase in oscillation frequency since the exposure time decreases with an increase in frequency, which in turn decreases electrochemical wear.
