Abstract

Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common bone and joint degenerative disease, typically characterized by progressive destruction of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the cartilage. It is a complex condition owing to the limited repair potential of adult cartilage tissue. Tankyrase (encoded by TNKS/TNKS2) was recently identified as a potential new therapeutic target for OA. G007-LK highly selectively targets TNKS and TNKS2. However, tankyrase inhibition reportedly had negative systemic effects resulting in bone loss.
