Abstract

Sensory polyneuropathy is the most common neurologic complication of diabetes mellitus. Its incidence depends on the severity and chronicity of hyperglycemia. Nevertheless, a few clinical reports and some animal experiments have shown that repeated episodes of hypoglycemia, such as may be seen with tight glycemic control, can cause symptomatic axonal damage. To the best of our knowledge, neuropathy has not been reported upon correction of serum glucose to normal levels. We describe six diabetic patients (five males), age: 27–58, who were seen by us between 2003–2006.
