Abstract

Abstract Giotto di Bondone was an Italian painter who received Dante's praise in the Divine Comedy (Purgatorio, XI, 94–96). He was a seminal figure in the revival of the visual arts in Italy and the development of the discipline and vocabulary of art history. Petrarch considers him the founding father of Renaissance painting.
