Abstract

The expansion approximation of scattering phase function is one of the key steps to solve the atmospheric radiative transfer equation, and a scattering phase function approximation frame model (G-delta-L approximation) has been proposed by the author in 2015. This paper summarizes the design idea of G-delta-L approximation. The composition and application process of G-delta-L approximation FORTRAN software are introduced briefly. The software application tests are made for different phase functions with different properties of particle size distribution and complex refractive index. The suitable parameter sets of G-delta-L approximation are recommended for several typical phase functions when they are to be approximated with different expansion streams.
