Abstract

Due to the fluctuation characteristics of wind power, Integration of large-scale wind power affects the frequency stability of power system, so it's necessary to design a new type of load frequency controller to adapt to the fluctuation of wind power injected. Based on analyzing the output characteristic of wind farm which is varying with the wind speed and the principle of load frequency controller, fuzzy control is introduced. Based on Matlab/Simulink, the model of a two area interconnected power system with large scale of wind power integrated is built; three situations are studied corresponding to the primary frequency regulator without controller, the secondary frequency regulator with traditional PI controller and the secondary frequency regulator with fuzzy-based PI controller respectively. The results show that fuzzy-based controller would improve the performances of frequency control for the power system greatly.
