Abstract

An adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control based on soft-switching law is defined to control the speed of an induction motor. A sliding-mode control (SMC) system with proportional plus integral control action that generates an equivalent control action is investigated. A simple adaptive algorithm is utilized to generate soft-switching parameters of the equivalent control action, resulting into a fuzzy sliding mode controller. The effectiveness of the control scheme is verified by numerical simulation, resulting into good performances in comparison to the conventional indirect-field oriented control.
