Abstract
In this chapter we have collected together the basic ideas from fuzzy sets and fuzzy functions needed for the book. Any reader already familiar with fuzzy sets, and the algebra of fuzzy sets, fuzzy numbers and fuzzy arithmetic of fuzzy numbers, and the extension principle, or α-cuts and interval arithmetic, method of obtaining fuzzy functions, may go on to the next chapter.
