Abstract

This papers presents a new approach for the design of observers for bilinear systems. The approach is based on Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models. The paper derives the necessary conditions for the assignability of eigenvalues to a region in the s-plane. The problem is solved using the classical root clustering theory as well as the Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) framework. The observer is then used to detect and isolate faults in a railway traction system.
