Abstract

Damping of low frequency oscillations in power systems is a crucial issue in the power system. The power system stabilizers (PSS) are being used to damp these oscillations and enhance the power system stability. In this paper, a new linearized Heffron-Philips model of a single machine-infinite bus power system has been developed. In the proposed method, a fuzzy logic based stabilizers have been designed and simulated. Also the proposed fuzzy stabilizer has been optimized using C-means clustering method. For different changes in input power, simulations results show that optimized fuzzy stabilizer is more effective than other the conventional PSS in damping of low frequency oscillations. The results of the simulation show the capability of the proposed method and its validity.
